Rainer Pöttgen

Rainer Pöttgen studied chemistry at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and received the Diploma degree in 1990. He performed his thesis with Wolfgang Jeitschko in Münster and obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1993. In the same year, he stayed as a postdoctor at ICMCB, CNRS, in Bordeaux with Bernard Chevalier and Jean Etourneau. In 1994 and 1996, he joined the group of Arndt Simon at MPI FKF in Stuttgart. In 1996, he returned to Münster and received the habilitation in 1997. In 2000 he accepted an offer as a Professor for solid state inorganic chemistry at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Since 2001 he is Full Professor for inorganic chemistry at the Institut für Anorganische und Analytische Chemie in Münster. His research interests are structure-property relationships of intermetallic compounds. Rainer Pöttgen is currently one of the Editors of Zeitschrift für Naturforschung and member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Solid State Chemistry and Zeitschrift für Anorganische und Allgemeine Chemie.
