Boris A. Chizh

Boris A. Chizh is currently the Platform Director for Pain and Neurophysiology at Addenbrooke’s Centre for Clinical Investigation, GlaxoSmithKline, in Cambridge and the Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Anaesthesia, University of Cambridge, UK. He gained an M.D. (cum laude) degree in internal medicine and the Ph.D. degree in pharmacology from Moscow Medical Academy, Russia. Dr. Chizh held academic positions in Moscow and Bristol, and since 1997 has been in pharmaceutical research and development. For much of his career, Dr. Chizh has been working in the field of neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, pain and analgesia, conducting preclinical and clinical research. He is presently responsible for development and application of experimental methods and biomarkers for clinical trials of novel analgesics. Dr. Chizh has extensive experience of reviewing grant applications and scientific manuscripts, and currently serves as an Editorial Board Member of five peer-reviewed journals. He has held honorary positions at the University of Cambridge, University of Bristol, and Imperial College London.
