Shengfeng Qin serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Design Department of Brunel University, UK, and the Head of the Computer Aided Design and Engineering Research Group. He obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees from China and his Ph.D. degree from the UK. He was an Academic Visiting Scholar, in 1996-1997, within the Geometric Modelling Group of the University of Birmingham UK after working as a Lecturer from 1989, and an Associate Professor from 1994 in the East China Jiaotong University. Following the visiting position, he took a Research Assistant post in 1998 at UWIC and subsequently joined the Manufacturing Systems Integration Research Institute (MSI), Loughborough University as a Postdoc Research Associate in 2000. His research interests include computer-aided conceptual design, rapid geometric modeling, sketch-based interface and modeling, user-centred design, natural interface and smart product, collaborative design, virtual prototyping and manufacturing, and human modeling and animation.
