Domenico Prisco

Domenico Prisco serves as a Professor of internal medicine at the Department of Medical and Surgical Critical Area, Section of Internal Medicine and Cardiology of the University of Florence, Italy. He graduated from Medical School at University of Florence with full grades and honor. He completed his military service in Italian Military Navy. He is specialized in internal medicine and haematology. He had scientific activity at University of Florence, in the field of thrombosis and haemostasis. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of Florence since 1992, a Professor at the Postgraduate Schools of Internal Medicine, Rehabilitative Medicine, Thorax Surgery, Clinical Biochemistry and Dental Surgery of the University of Florence, a Professor at Schools for Nurses and for Obstetrics, and Assistant at the Thrombosis Center of Careggi University Hospital in Florence, besides being responsible for the Center starting from 1999. He served as the President of Italian Society on Haemostasis and Thrombosis (2006-2008). He was Former Counselor and Secretary of Italian Federation of Anticoagulation Clinics. He is a Member of Italian Society of Internal Medicine, Italian Society of Angiology and Vascular Pathology, Italian Gruppo di studio Aterosclerosi, Trombosi e Biologia Vascolare, International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, International Society on Fibrinolysis and Thrombolysis, Italian Society of Cardiology, and Working group on Thrombosis of European Society of Cardiology. He is an Editor-in-Chief of internal and emergency medicine (2009-2013). He serves as a Member of the Editorial Board of Ictus and Thrombosis Journal, Former Member of the Advisory Board of Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and Reviewer for several Journals. He is the author of more than 200 papers and scientific reviews in national and international journals on pathophysiology of thrombosis, ischaemic heart disease, and fibrinolysis alterations and on clinical and therapeutic aspects of these states. He serves as a member of different Italian boards for preparation of guidelines
