P. Neven is a Professor of gynecology at UZ Leuven in Belgium. His main interest is in breast cancer. He is currently the responsible gynecologist at the Multidisciplinary Breast Centre in Leuven, Belgium. Neven is frequently cited regarding his work on SERMs and the endometrium. He was the first one to describe the benign uterine side effects of tamoxifen, presenting these as a case control study which appeared in Lancet in 1989. He is currently interested in the development of newer SERMs and oral aromatase inhibitors for treatment and prevention of breast cancer. He recently published on the association of HER-2 expression and steroid receptors in invasive breast cancer. Neven copromotes a thesis entitled “Aromatase-inhibitor induced arthralgia.” He also chairs the Breast Group of the Flemish Board of Gynecology Oncology.
