Hajime Nakano received the M.D. degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Hirosaki University, Hirosaki, Japan, in 1991 and 1995, respectively. He worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology, Jefferson Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, Pa, USA, in 1998–2000 supervised by Professor Jouni Uitto. After coming back to Japan, he served as an Assistant Professor in Hirosaki University School of Medicine. Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Dermatology, Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine, and as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology, Hirosaki University Hospital. He has a particular interest in molecular diagnosis of genodermatosis including cutaneous porphyrias and epidermolysis bullosa.
