Ilya M. Spitkovsky

Ilya Spitkovsky was born in Odessa, Ukraine, in 1953. He received his Diploma in Mathematics and Education from the University of Odessa in 1975, the Candidate of Sciences (an equivalent of PhD) from the University of Belorussia, Minsk, in 1978, and the Doctor of Sciences degree from the Georgian Academy, Tbilisi, in 1987. From 1978 through 1989, he was affiliated with the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, and since 1990 (after emigration to the USA) with the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA. Research interests of Professor Spitkovsky are in Functional and Complex Analysis, in particular in Operator Theory, Factorization Problems, and their applications. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal for Information Systems Sciences, an Editorial Board Member of Integral Equations and Operator Theory, Operators and Matrices, Armenian Journal of Mathematics, International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, and a Member of the International Workshops on Operator Theory and Applications steering committee.
