Noël Challamel was born in 1971 in Paris, France. He received the M.S. degree in mechanics and civil engineering in 1995. He got the Ph.D. degree in 1999 from Mines ParisTech, Paris, France. In 2000, he was appointed as a Research Engineer at Gaz de France, and, in 2001, he was appointed as an Associate Professor at INSA de Rennes. Challamel holds the Habilitation to conduct researches, since 2007. In 2011, he was appointed as a Professor at the University of South Brittany, Lorient, France. Noël Challamel is Professor at University of South Brittany (Université de Bretagne Sud, Lorient, France). He is the Head of the Civil Engineering Department. His research at University of South Brittany mainly concerning civil engineering and mechanics problems, with a particular emphasis on scale effects, structural mechanics, stability, vibrations, and material modeling (continuum damage mechanics and plasticity). He is the coauthor of three books in the field of mechanics and civil engineering. He has published over a hundred papers in high standard journals. He is often consulted as a referee in more than 50 international journals in civil engineering, physics, or mechanics. He is member of the editorial board of 8 international journals and is Associate Editor of the Journal of Engineering Mechanics, one of the leading journals published by the American Society of Civil Engineering. He is also Editor and Head of the collection Solid Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering published by ISTE Wiley. He is Member of ASCE, IPACS, AUM, and AUGC. He is has coauthored Carbon Nanotubes and Nanosensors: Vibrations, Buckling and Ballistic impact, Wiley, ISTE.
