Andreas C. Nearchou
Andreas C. Nearchou was born in Cyprus in 1962. He holds a Dipl.-Ing. degree in computer engineering and informatics and a Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering (both from University of Patras, Greece). He serves currently as an Assistant Professor of production and operations management at the Department of Business Administration, University of Patras. Before joining academia in 2006, he has held various industrial appointments, reaching the position of the Director of the Central Information Systems Services at the University of Patras, Patras, Greece. He has over than 15 years extensive experience in industrial and information technology consulting for companies and public organizations in Greece. He has published more than forty articles in referred scientific journals and international conferences on various production management and manufacturing technology topics. His papers have appeared in Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Computers and Operations Research, Journal of Heuristics, Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing, Journal of Computers in Industry, Journal of Artificial Intelligence in Engineering, Industrial Robot, Journal of Robotics and Computed Integrated Manufacturing, and International Journal of Cybernetics and Systems, among others. He serves as a Member of the Editorial Board of the Industrial Robot Journal, Member of the Scientific Technical Committee on Soft Computing of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, and regular reviewer in about 20 scientific journals. His research interests with published work include production planning and control, combinatorial optimization, metaheuristics, nature-inspired computing in service operations and manufacturing, robotics logistics.
