Prof. Nobile obtained the Laurea cum Laude in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Trieste (ITALY) - 10.1982. Thanks to a VKI-NATO Fellowship, 1982-1983, he later attended the Post-Graduate Diploma Course with honours at the Von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, BELGIUM - 07.1983. His project was recognized by the ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers Award - 1983. In the period 11.1984 to 08.1996 he worked for Ansaldo Componenti, Monfalcone (GO - ITALY). From 09.1986 to 11.1997 he was enrolled as Research Assistant (Ricercatore) in Thermo-Fluids at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Trieste (TS - ITALY). In 1988-89 he was the recipient of a CNR/NATO Advanced Fellowship Program, and became Visiting Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick, CANADA. In 11.1997 he was promoted to associate professor of Thermo-Fluids at the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Environmental Engineering (DINMA), University of Trieste. In 2002 he become Full Professor of Thermo-Fluids at the same Department. Prof. Nobile is author or co-author of about 100 publications, he is reviewer of international journals and member of the Scientific Committee of International Conferences in heat transfer and fluid flow. Present research activities: CFD modelling and analysis of heat transfer systems and components; Multiobjective Optimisation and direct design of shape in heat transfer; high performance computing in computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer; simulation of multiphase flows; industrial applications of CFD. He is co-founder of ESTECO SpA (www.esteco.com).
