Janette Y. Taylor

Janette Y. Taylor holds the Ph.D., RN, WHCNP, BC, FAAN degrees, and serves as an Associate Professor at the College of Nursing, University of Iowa. She has been a certified women’s health care nurse practitioner with specialization in obstetrics, gynecological, and neonatal nursing. Her research has focused on race/ethnicity as variables in nursing research, African American women’s experiences of domestic violence, the health of women prisoners, reconnecting incarcerated women with their children, and using narrative art therapy with incarcerated abused women. She served as a Member of the Institute of Medicine’s Committee on Ethical Considerations for Revisions to DHHS Regulations for Protection of Prisoners Involved in Research. She serves as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington-Seattle and she holds a certificate in Women’s studies.
