H.P.S. Abdul Khalil is a Professor in the field of biocomposite materials in School of Industrial Technology in Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Wood Science (FIWSc), UK, Member of Society of Wood Science and Technology USA and American Chemical Society, USA. Prof Abdul Khalil’s research interests include natural fibre reinforced polymer composites, hybrid composites, nanobiocomposites, oil palm biomass lumber and fundamental studies of plant fibres. He has published more than 100 research papers in ISI referred journals. He has published 5 books; he is also author of 5 book chapters under reputed publishers (Springer, Intech, Nova etc.). He is a reviewer of more than 20 ISI cited journals (Carbohydrate polymers, Composite Part A, Composite Science and Technology, Industrial Crops and Products, etc. Prof Abdul Khalil is a Regional Editor of Research Journal of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology and Lead Guest Editor of Special Issue entitled “Broad Perspective, Processing and Application of Polymer Bio composites for Sustainable Tomorrow”, Advances in Materials Sciences and Engineering, Hindawi Publishers. Prof. Khalil has been awarded numerous awards for research and development which includes: Gold Medal in Waste to Wealth: New Composite Technology Expo(2010), Grand Prize (2009) in Seoul (Korea),Silver Medal for Green Light Weight & Mat in KIWIE (2012) in Seoul (Korea), Silver Medal in Bio Malaysia (2008); Gold and Bronze Medal, Invention and Innovation Industrial Design and Technology I-TEX (2007, 2008), Special Award from Solid State Science and Technology (MASS), Malaysia for Biocomposite product, 2003. Due to his research excellence, he has been appointed as a Member of Malaysian Standard Committee for many sections e.g. Wood Plastic Composites, Sewage Treatment Plant from Glass fiber Reinforced Composites (FRC). Excellent Research Award received in Academics Annual Award USM, consecutively for many years.
