Alain Ghizzo was born in France in 1960. He received the Ph.D. degree in physics in 1987, and in 1988 he joined the Canadian Center of Magnetic Fusion, Varennes, Montreal, Canada, for a postdoctoral position. He is currently a Professor at the Institut Jean Lamour, UMR 7198, University of Lorraine, Nancy, France. He has been performing research in the field of computer experiments in plasma physics. His research interests include the development of new methods of kinetic Vlasov simulations and Hamiltonian reduction techniques. The applications concern parametric instabilities in relativistic regime, Weibel-type instabilities for laser-plasma interaction or space physics, and gyrokinetic models for the study of the transport in tokamaks.
