Marije Koenders holds a Ph.D. degree. She is a Postdoctoral Researcher and a Program Leader of Animal Models and Cytokines at the Department of Rheumatology, Rheumatology Research, and Advanced Therapeutics at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Her research topic is “ Th17 cytokines as therapeutic targets in arthritis” embedded in the institutes NCMLS (Nijmegen Centre of Molecular Life Sciences) and N4I (Nijmegen Institute for Infection, Inflammation and Immunity). Her research interest includes autoimmunity and inflammation with special attention to proinflammatory cytokines that contribute to the arthritic process leading to destruction of cartilage and bone. Her research focus is the Th17 cell as aggressor T cells in arthritis and the role of Th17-related cytokines IL-17, IL-21, and IL-22 in the arthritic process.
