Ognjen Miljanic

Ognjen Miljanic was born in Belgrade in 1978. In 2000, he graduated from the University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia having a Diploma degree and moved to California to begin doctoral work (2001–2005) with Professor Peter Vollhardt at UC Berkeley, Berkeley, USA. After a postdoctoral appointment (2005–2008) in Sir Fraser Stoddart's group at UCLA, Los Angeles, USA, Ognjen accepted the position of an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston, Houston, USA, in 2008. His research group works on fluorescent sensing, self-organizing chemical systems, and functional porous materials. Among other distinctions, he was honored with 2011 Thieme Chemistry Journal and 2012 US National Science Foundation CAREER awards.
