Pauline Wimberger studied medicine in Munich and worked there as resident physician. Afterwards, she had a lot of clinical experience at the Department of Gynecology at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where she became adjunct professor and deputy director. Since 2012, she is Director of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. Her research interests are in the field of translational gynecologic oncology and, particularly, focus on I) analysis of prognostic and predictive markers for ovarian cancer and breast cancer II) disseminated and circulating tumor cells (DTC, CTC) in breast and ovarian cancer and II) targeted therapy/immunotherapy in gynecologic oncology.
