Zafar Nawaz works as an Associate Research Director of Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute (BFBCI) at the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMSCCC). Dr. Nawaz is an internationally recognized scientist with over 18 years of experience investigating mechanisms of gene regulation by steroid hormone receptors as a Fellow and Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine, Tex, USA, then as a Director of the Cancer Center Molecular Biology Core laboratory at Creighton University, Nebraska. In December 2004, Dr. Nawaz moved to the University of Miami as an Associate Professor at the Department Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of Miami and an Associate Research Director of the BFBCI and continued his research in the area of steroid hormone receptors. Dr. Nawaz also holds the graduate program director position at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Nawaz is a Visiting Professor at the Behua University, China. Dr. Nawaz has received several awards and honors. He is a member of several professional societies and serves on the review boards for a number of professional journals and funding agencies.
