Willem Van der Does PhD is professor of psychology at Leiden University and Leiden University Medical Center. He received BSc and MSc degrees from Leiden University and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam and is a registered clinical psychologist. His research focuses on the etiology and treatment of depression. These topics are addressed via clinical trials and experimental research. Recent and current research projects address the questions of how affect and cognition are modulated by neurotransmitter function and genotypic variation; how changes in cognition mediate therapeutic changes; the effect of nutrition on cognition and affect.
