Prof Wang received his Bachelor degree in Materials Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 1988, his Master degree in Materials Science and PhD in Ceramic Chemistry in 1991 and 1994 respectively from Chinese Academy of Sciences. He then received his second PhD in Materials Engineering from The University Queensland (Australia) in 2001. He joined University of Southern Queensland in 2006, and currently is the Director of its Centre of Excellence in Engineered Fibre Composites. Prof Wang has over 20 years research experience in material science and engineering covered a range of areas from metals, ceramics, composites to thin films. In the last 10 years, the research has focused on semisolid metal processing, amorphous and nano structure materials, natural fibre composites and green cements/concretes. He has published 4 books, 2 book chapters and 120 journal papers. Prof Wang is currently Fellow of Institute of Australian Engineers. He received Institute of Metal Research Director Award (1991), Chinese Academy of Sciences President Award (1991), Shanghai Top Ten Young Scientists Award from Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Branch (1994), Australian Research Fellowship (2003), Queensland International Fellowship (2007), University of Southern Queensland FoES Research Excellent Award (2010). Prof Wang has organized many international conferences and is the Chairman for the 11th Asian-Australasian Conference on Composite Materials 2018. He has presented many plenary and keynotes lectures at international conferences.
