Vicente A. Resto

Vicente A. Resto is the Harry Carothers Wiess Chair in Otolaryngology and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology at UTMB Health, Galveston, Tex. He currently holds the rank of Associate Professor of otolaryngology, neurosurgery, and biochemistry and molecular biology. Dr. Resto's clinical work includes comprehensive medical and surgical care of adults and children with disorders of the head and neck with subspecialty interest in skull base surgery and head and neck reconstruction. He directs a research laboratory focused on the study of the molecular mechanisms important for lymphatic metastasis and tumor tolerance in patients with head and neck cancer. Dr. Resto earned both his Ph.D. degree (human genetics) and M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2000. He completed an internship in general surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he also served as a fellow in skull base and reconstructive surgery.
