Marina Sisterna serves as an Assistant Professor of plant pathology at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her degree in agricultural sciences from the same University in 1979. After spending 4 years working in a postgraduate scholarship under the guidance of Professors Héctor Alippi and Juan Carlos Lindquist, Sisterna joined the Plant Pathology Laboratory at the University of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, now known as CIDEFI (Centro de Investigaciones de Fitopatología). In 1987, she became a Researcher at the Scientific Commission of Buenos Aires Province, working in the same lab. In addition to teaching a graduate course in the fundamentals of phytopathology, Sisterna is conducting researches on the identification, biology, and management of plant pathogens, especially on the Dematiaceae group (Alternaria, Bipolaris, Curvularia, Drechslera, and Exserohilum genera). Her current research focuses on cereal seed diseases, with emphasis on their control through chemical and alternative strategies. Sisterna authored more than 60 scientific papers and is responsible for graduate and postgraduate human resource training.
