Michalis Pissas

National Center of Scientific Research, Greece

Michalis Pissas received the Ph.D. degree in physics (superconductivity) and M.Eng. in metallurgy engineering from National Technical University of Athens, Greece (graduated first in class). He has been a Director of Research since 2005 at IMS in which he was a Senior Researcher during the period from 1998 till 2004. Moreover, Dr. Pissas worked as an Assistant Researcher from 1995 to 1997 and a Visiting Researcher at Centre de Recherches sur les Tres Basses Temperatures, CNRS, Grenoble, France (1996-1997). He was also a Research Associate at IMS from 1993 to 1995. His research focuses on the study of superconductors and magnetic oxides. He studies important problems in material physics, with emphasis on complex oxides. The materials of interest are transition metal perovskite-based oxides like La1-xCaxMnO3 (0
