Yoshiyuki Kuroiwa received the M.D. and Ph.D. degree. Kuroiwa is a Professor of neurology and Chairman of Stroke Center, University Hospital Mizonokuchi, Teikyo University School of Medicine, Kawasaki, Japan. Kuroiwa was graduated from Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo in 1973. Kuroiwa was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology, University of Tokyo (1981); an Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology, Iwate Medical University School of Medicine (1982); Chairman of the Department of Neurology, Toranomon Hospital (1991); Chairman of the Departments of Neurology and Stroke Medicine, Yokohama City University School of Medicine (1992); Vice President of Yokohama City University Hospital (2006); Dean of Yokohama City University School of Medicine (2010); President of Association of Japanese Medical Colleges (2010). Kuroiwa received award from Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (2012). Kuroiwa is a Member of the Board of Trustees; Japanese Society of Neurovegetative Research; Japanese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology; Japanese Society of Neurological therapeutics; Japanese Pharmaco-EEG Society; Common Achievement Tests Organization(CATO) and a Special Consultant of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA). Kuroiwa's areas of expertise include cognitive neuroscience, clinical neurophysiology, neurodegenerative diseases, prion disease, stroke, epilepsy, and headache.
