Giora Pillar received an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree. He is the Head of the Pediatric Sleep Lab and the Rambam Sleep Clinic of the Sleep Disorder Center as well as the Head of the Sleep Clinic of Haifa District of Clalit Medical Services (the largest HMO in Israel). He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He got his Medical and Scientific degrees from the Technion, and thereafter completed a fellowship at the Sleep Medicine, Endocrinology and Circadian Rhythm Department, Brigham & Women Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass, USA. He has the American Board of Sleep Medicine examinations certification, and has a 20-year experience in diagnosing and treating patients with sleep disorders. Professor Pillar teaches sleep medicine courses for various audiences for more than 15 years. He is the author of a primer on sleep medicine for practitioners. The book entitled “Sleep Disorders: Diagnosis, Management, and Treatment. A Handbook for Clinicians”, gained a huge success in USA and Europe. In addition, he is the author of over 80 papers in peer review journals, and several book chapters. He is at the Editorial Board of the journal SLEEP. He honored several awards for his work in the field of sleep.
