Miroslaw Lachowicz received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from the University of Warsaw. He is a Honorary Professor (2006–2008) at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Faculty of Science and Agriculture, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Westville, South Africa. Presently, Lachowicz is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw. He is a Member of the Editorial Boards of a number of journals, including Journal of Applied Mathematics (Hindawi Publishing Corporation), Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences (John Wiley & Sons, Inc.), and Folia Mathematica (Acta Universitatis Lodziensis). From 2005 to present, Lachowicz was the Director of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics. His research Interests include partial differential equations, integrodifferential equations, singularly perturbed problems, Markov processes, applications in biology, medicine, and kinetic Theory, and mathematical problems of cancer growth.
