Murtuza Bharmal received the Ph.D. and B.Pharm. degrees and has a clinical background with over 10 years of experience in conducting health outcomes research in consulting, industry, and academic environments. Dr. Bharmal has worked on numerous prospective clinical studies, epidemiology studies, psychometric validation studies, economic modeling studies, and studies involving large national surveys. Dr. Bharmal has specific expertise in the design and analysis of observational nonrandomized studies, development and validation of patient-reported outcome measures, and in the area of health economics in context of clinical trials. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Bharmal has authored over 75 original research articles and presentations in a variety of international clinical and methodological journals and professional conferences, and his work has won multiple awards including the Best New Investigator Podium Presentation Award at International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR). Dr. Bharmal is an active Member in various professional organizations including ISPOR, American Pharmacists Association and honor societies including Sigma Xi-The Scientific Research Society and Rho Chi-The Academic Honor Society in Pharmacy. He has completed his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees specializing in health economics and outcomes research from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind, USA. Dr. Bharmal also holds a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences degree from Mumbai, India, and is a Registered Pharmacist in India. He currently heads up Commercial Analysis at the R&D Center of GlaxoSmithKline based in Shanghai, China.
