Maria Lucia Silveira
Maria Lucia Silveira, a soil scientist, received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in soil science from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. After earning her Ph.D. degree, Dr. Silveira worked as a Postdoctoral and a Research Associate at the University of Florida and Texas A&M University. She joined the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor in 2006. Her research and extension programs are focused on soil fertility and environmental nutrient management practices for sustainable forage production. Her research interest includes nutrient management, C sequestration, and ecological services associated with grazing land ecosystems. Her current projects focus on nutrient management strategies that result in optimum forage production and profitability, while protecting Florida water resources. Dr. Silveira is a Member of the Soil Science Society of America, the America Society of Agronomy, the Crop Science Society of America, and the Brazilian Soil Science Society.
