Nicola Magnavita received his M.D. degree from the Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy, in November 1977. He serves as a Confirmed Researcher at the Institute of Occupational Medicine (now Institute of Public Health) of the Catholic University since 1977. His research interests include the management of workers who might be hazardous for others (where he was the National Coordinator of the study group on this subject) and the management of occupational risks for health and safety (he developed the ASIA model for risk management). The medical activities were conducted in the Policlinico Agostino Gemelli of Rome on two distinct levels: clinical activities pertaining to the pool of medicine and preventive health surveillance activities in workplaces. He currently cooperates with Italian foreign study centers (Finland, UK, Poland, Holland, USA, and Canada). He directed as a Scientific Manager or cooperated in 22 research projects funded by various agencies including the National Research Council, the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of University and Scientific Research, and the Ministry of Health.
