Yuri M. Strzhemechny
Yuri M. Strzhemechny serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Tex. Dr. Strzhemechny received an undergraduate degree in cryogenic physics from Kharkov Polytechnic University in Ukraine. His Ph.D. degree in physics was awarded by the City University of New York. Before coming to TCU, Dr. Strzhemechny worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and a Research Associate at the Ohio State University. His interests lie in the field of nanoscale materials science and are focused on various nanoscale semiconductor and nanocarbon systems, in which surface/interface defects play a significant role. Due to the large surface/volume ratio in such nanostructures, device performance is determined essentially by the surface and subsurface properties; thus understanding of the fundamental mechanisms in such systems and their impact in applications is crucial. A distinct class of phenomena of interest for his group is the influence of defects on the optoelectronic processes and structural properties of these nanostructures. He has more than 60 publications in refereed journals and books.
