Domenico Coppola received his B.S. degree in biology in 1970 from Liceo Classico P. Virgilio Marone, in Meta di Sorrento, Italy. In 1983, Dr. Coppola received his M.D. degree from the University of Naples, First Faculty in Naples, Italy. He is a Board-Certified Anatomic and Clinical Pathologist, with expertise in gastrointestinal pathology and in molecular pathology. After his residency at Temple University in Philadelphia, Dr. Coppola completed a two-year Fellowship in molecular pathology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia (mentor Dr. Renato Baserga) and a one-year Fellowship in surgical pathology at the University of Pittsburgh. His personal research interest is the identification of new biomarkers of prognosis and response to targeted drug therapies in solid tumors. Dr. Coppola is the Chair of Anatomic Pathology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa Florida. He has co-authored over 175 articles in peer-reviewed journal. Dr. Coppola is also the Editor of the book entitled Mechanisms of Oncogenesis.
