Joan J. Carvajal

Joan J. Carvajal was born in Lleida, Spain, in 1973. He received the chemistry degree and the Ph.D. degree from the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain, in 1998 and 2003, respectively. He was Fulbright Scholar (2004–2006) at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Since 2006, he is a “Ramón y Cajal” Researcher at the Physics and Crystallography of Materials and Nanomaterials (FiCMA-FiCNA) of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Tarragona, Spain. He is mainly interested in design of growth systems and control processing, preparation and characterization of active thin films for integrated optics, preparation and characterization of active and passive photonic crystals, and synthesis of wide band-gap semiconductor porous and nonporous nanostructures. He has been a Guest Editor of Elsevier Physics Procedia.
