Francesco Lufrano works as a Senior Scientist at the Institute CNR-ITAE of Messina, Italy. He graduated in chemical engineering at the University of Calabria, Cosenza (Italy), in 1989. In November 1994, after a three-year fellowship at the CNR-IRMERC, University of Calabria, Cosenza, he earned the position of Associate Researcher at the Institute CNR-ITAE of Messina, where he worked in the field of polymer electrolyte fuel cells. Since December 2001, Dr. Lufrano has been serving as a Research Scientist of the permanent staff of the Institute CNR-ITAE, while from January 2006, he was appointed a Senior Researcher (1° Ricercatore - CNR). His current research interest covers the field of polymer electrolytes, electrochemistry, interfaces, nanostructured carbons, and metal oxides; energy storage and conversion; and supercapacitors, batteries, and fuel cells. Since 2009, Dr. Lufrano has been responsible for a CNR research Module - ET.P03.008.003 (Technologies for Electrochemical Energy Storage). Dr. Lufrano is the author of 32 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 15 papers in international conference proceedings. Moreover, he is also the coauthor of sixteen Italian reports for national projects and industries and 50 communications at conferences. Currently, his citation counts is of 1732, Hirsh index= 19 (Google scholar). In 2010 and 2011, he has received twice the prize H2 Roma Energy & Mobility 2010 and 2011 Research Award.
