Sum Yee Leung
Sum Yee Leung is currently an Assistant Professor at Chang Gung University, Taiwan, and its affiliated Medical Centre of the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH) Group in Kaohsiung. After achieving his M.D. degree, he received medical training at Kaohsiung CGMH and was later promoted to Attending Physician at the hospital. In 2001, Dr. Leung joined the Airway Disease Group led by Professors Peter Barnes and K Fan Chung at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), Royal Brompton Hospital Campus, Imperial College, University of London, UK. After receiving his Ph.D. degree, he continued working there as an Honorary Fellow until 2007. During his stay in the UK, Dr. Leung’s research mainly focused on allergic airway inflammation, airflow obstruction, and airway remodeling. After Dr. Leung has returned to Taiwan, his area of research has been on the clinical studies of medical management in the field of asthma and COPD. Dr. Leung is a Member of several medical societies, including the American Thoracic Society in the United States, the Society of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine in Taiwan.
