Andras Janosi was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1943. He received the M.D. degree (summa cum laude) from Budapest Medical University in 1968. He received Ph.D. and D.S. degrees from Hungarian Academy of Science. He was a Staff Member at the National Institute of Cardiology from 1972 to 1989. In 1989, he was appointed as a Head of the Internal Department and Cardiology in Szent János Municipal Teaching Hospital in Budapest. In 1990, he was named Professor of Semmelweis Medical University. He was elected as a Fellow of American College of Cardiology, a Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians, and a Fellow of European Society of Cardiology. Since 2010, he is working for Gottsegen György National Institute Of Cardiology, Budapest, as a Program Director of Myocardial Infarction Registry Program in Hungary. He is mainly interested in the prevention and treatment of ischemic heart disease. He worked for Hungarian Society of Cardiology as a Head of Scientific Committee. He received Batthyány-Strattmann Award and Semmelweis Award.
