Gang Qian is a Senior Research Scientist at ObjectVideo in Reston, VA, USA. His research includes geo-registration, multitarget tracking, 3D reconstruction and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), and human motion analysis. Prior to joining ObjectVideo, Dr. Qian was on the Faculty of the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University, Ariz, USA, where he worked on problems in computer vision and pattern analysis, sensor fusion and information integration, human motion analysis and human-centered interactive multimedia systems, and machine learning for computer vision. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park in 2002 for his work on robust structure from motion estimation using inertial data and sequential Monte Carlo methods. Dr. Qian has published over 80 scholarly articles and book chapters and an edited book. He served on the organizing committees of the 2008 International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP) and the 2006 International Conference on Image and Video Retrieval (CIVR).
