Pierre Jay-Robert was born in France in 1969. After a first degree in environmental management (Université de Savoie, Chambéry), he specialized in ecology and received the PhD degree from the Université Paul Valéry - Montpellier 3 in 1997. Since 1998, he is lecturer in this University. In 2010, he obtained the post-doctoral degree (required to oversee research in France). In 2011, he was chosen to manage the team "écologie des arthropodes & changements globaux" from the "Centre d'écologie fonctionnelle & évolutive" (Montpellier). Pierre Jay-Robert is firstly interested by the distribution of species in complex environments. The assemblages of dung beetles that he studies in western Palearctic allow him to confront with species interacting in a highly perturbed environment (climatic gradients, changes in resource...). He recently decided to enlarge his field of investigations to livestock pest insects in order to highlight the ambivalent relationship between human and insects in grazing.
