Marcin Barczynski graduated from Jagiellonian University Medical College in 1996 and completed his residency in general surgery at the 3rd Department of General Surgery in 2004 at the same university. He was trained in visceral, laparoscopic, endocrine surgery and surgical oncology in Poland as well as in Germany, Switzerland, UK and USA. He has become a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery – Endocrine Surgery since 2006. He was the Chairman of the National Delegate Council and a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Endocrine Surgeons (ESES) for the 2006 – 2010 term. He is currently working as Associate Professor of Surgery at the Department of Endocrine Surgery, 3rd Chair of General Surgery, Jagiellonian University, Medical College. He has published 104 scientific peer reviewed papers (cumulated Impact Factor = 97.6 pts.) and has delivered over 250 presentations at the national and international conferences. He is a member of many scientific societies including: International Association of Endocrine Surgery (IAES), European Society of Endocrine Surgeons (ESES), European Thyroid Association (ETA), International Society of Surgery (ISS), European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), European Society of Surgery (ESS), German Association of Endocrine Surgeons (CAEK), Polish Society of Surgery (TChP), Polish Society of Surgical Oncology (PTChO), Polish Club of Endocrine Surgeons (PKChE).
