Kevin Ward, M.D., is a Professor of emergency medicine at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, where he serves as an Executive Director for the Michigan Center for Integrative Research in Emergency Medicine. He is also the Executive Director for the University of Michigan Medical Schools Fast Forward Medical Innovation Program. Dr. Ward received his medical degree from the Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, USA, and his clinical emergency medicine training at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA. His research focus is on platform technology development and use for the diagnosis and treatment of critical illness and injury including combat casualty care. Examples of these technology platforms are physiologic signal and image analysis and the use of artificial intelligence for decision assist support. His research has been continuously funded over the last decade by funding agencies such as the U.S. Department of Defense and National Institutes of Health. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed scientific journal publications and book chapters in the field of critical illness and injury. He received the U.S. Army’s Advanced Technologies Application for Combat Casualty Care Award and the Virginia Commonwealth University Innovator of the Year Award.
