Yili Ding received his Ph.D. degree in natural product chemistry and synthetic carbohydrate chemistry from Lanzhou University in Lanzhou, China. He spent few years in Dr. J. Defaye’s laboratory in France to finish the synthesis of sulfur-linked heptasaccharides, at Whistler Center for Carbohydrate Research in Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind, USA, in Professor Whistler’s laboratory to work on the synthesis of 5-thio sugar, at carbohydrate research center in Alberta University, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in Professor Ole Hindsgaul’s laboratory to work on the synthesis of carbohydrate library, and at The Scripps Research Institute in Professor Eric Sorenson’s laboratory to work on the total synthesis of natural product. At Isis Pharmaceuticals, as a Senior Research Scientist, he worked on the synthesis of heterocyclic aminoglycosides for HIV and antibacterial drug discovery, and, at Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, as a Principle Research Scientist, he worked on HCV, HSV, and cancer drug discovery. He serves as a Reviewer for Tetrahedron, Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, Letters in Organic Chemistry, European Journal of Organic Chemistry, and Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English. Currently, he holds the position of CSO in Hisun Pharmaceutical Shanghai Institute in China.
