Ulka Vaishampayan is the Chair of the multidisciplinary GU Oncology team at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute Detroit MI. She is also an Associate Professor of medicine at Wayne State University. Her focus of research and clinical experience is genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers. She has developed, conducted, and reported clinical studies in the field of prostate, bladder, and renal cancers. She has also performed clinical research on radiosensitization strategies with capecitabine and radiation therapy. She was awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award in 1999 and 2000 and the Southwest Oncology Group Young Investigator Award in 2000. She has published in a number of peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer, Red Journal, and Urology. She has also authored numerous review articles and book chapters. She is an active reviewer and has authored editorials for a number of journals including the Journal of Urology, Urology, Cancer, and International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics. She is currently appointed as a Member of the Scientific Committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).
