Neurology residency at Hadassah University Hospital (Israeli Board 1981 cum lauda).Advanced (post graduate) training: World health Organization fellow at the Muscular Dystrophy Lab, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom 1978-1979; Muscular Dystrophy Association Fellow at Biochemistry and Biophysics lab, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia 1984-1987. Current Academic Positions: Josephine Frank Kanrich Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases, Department of Neurology, Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center, Jerusalem, Israel; and Adjunct Professor, Montreal Neurological Institute, Montreal, Canada. Additional Professional Positions: President Elect, European Neurological Society 2010; Chairman, Israeli Society of Neuromuscular Diseases. Member of the Editorial Board and Executive committee of the World Muscle Society. Main research fields: 1.Hereditary neuromuscular diseases with special emphasis on Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy (first described by him in 1981) 2.Myasthenia gravis with special emphasis on drug-induced side effects at the neuromuscular system 3. Energy metabolism in myopathies (application of magnetic resonance spectroscopy to human muscle)
