Iliya Rashkov

Iliya Rashkov is a Professor at the Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria (IP-BAS). He received a Ph.D. degree in polymer chemistry and habilitation (the highest academic qualification) from IP-BAS. In 2008, he was elected the Corresponding Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (an academic title for outstanding achievements in science). He has authored over 200 scientific publications including 2 book chapters, a book and an e-Reference Tool, and 52 international and national patents. He has a long-lasting experience in interdisciplinary cooperation with partners from academia and industry, both national and international (France, Belgium, Italy, and other). His main areas of expertise are nanotechnology, electrospinning, and electrospraying; new polymer nanomaterials (nanoparticles, nanofibers, hydrogels, nanofibrous scaffolds for cell and tissue engineering); hybrid polymer materials; bioactive polymers; polymers for ecologically benign agropharmaceuticals.
