Cheryl Koopman, Ph.D. degree holder, is Professor (Research) of psychiatry and behavioral sciences, Emerita at Stanford University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on mental and physical health outcomes associated with acute and chronic illness and other stressors, social support, and psychosocial intervention. She has over 200 publications in predominantly peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Koopman completed her undergraduate and graduate education at University of California, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, and University of Virginia, followed by postdoctoral and visiting scholar fellowships at the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, Columbia Teachers College, and the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. Before coming to Stanford University in 1991, Dr. Koopman served as Assistant Professor of clinical psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York.
