David Russell has an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. degree. He is a Professor of neurology at the Oslo University Hospital in Norway. Professor Russell is the Founding President of the European Society of Neurosonology and Cerebral Haemodynamics. Russell is also a Guest Professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Ulm, Germany, and at the University of Debrecen, Hungary. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Founding Member of the European Stroke Council. He is also a Founding Member of the International Society of Behavioural and Cognitive Vascular Disorders. He is also a part of the Neurosonology Research Group of the World Federation of Neurology and of the World Federation of Neurology’s Research Group on Cerebrovascular Diseases as well as a Fellow of the American Heart Association. He is a Member of the British Neurological Association and the International Society of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism. His research interests involve cerebrovascular disease and pathophysiology of cerebrovascular haemodynamics. Professor Russell is part of the Editorial Board of several peer-reviewed medical journals such as Neurology, the Journal of Pediatric Neurology, Acta Neurologica Scandinavia, the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound, Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, the Journal of Neurosonology and Haemodynamics, and the Japanese Journal of Neurosonology. He has also been a Member of the Editorial Boards of Stroke, Cerebrovascular Diseases, and the European Journal of Neurology. Professor Russell has authored over 300 scientific publications especially on cerebrovascular disease in peer-reviewed journals.
