Kazuaki Tokiwa

Kazuaki Tokiwa was born in Fukui, Japan, in 1951. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine, Kyoto, Japan in 1984. From 1978 to 1980, K. Tokiwa was a Junior Resident in the First Department of Surgery, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. From 1980-1983, he was a Senior Resident in the Department of Surgery, Kyoto Second Red Cross Hospital and in the First Department of Surgery, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. From 1983 to 1998, K. Tokiwa was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgery, Children’s Research Hospital, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. From 1998 to 2003, he was an Associate Professor in the Division of Surgery, Children’s Research Hospital, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. Since 2004, he is the Deputy Director of National Hospital Organization Maizuru Medical Center, Kyoto, Japan. He is mainly interested in pediatric surgery, pediatric oncology, vascular malformations, and pediatric hepatobiliary disease. He is a Council Member of Japanese Society of Pediatric Surgeons and Japanese Society of Pediatric Oncology, and a Member of Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons.
