Ilka Engelmann

Ilka Engelmann received her degree in medicine in 2000 and her thesis degree in 2001, both from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Germany. From 2000 to 2007, she did her medical specialist training in “microbiology, virology and epidemiology of infections” in Nürnberg, Tübingen, and Hannover, Germany. She received her Medical Specialist degree in 2007. From 2004 to 2008, she worked at Medizinische Hochschule Hannover, Germany, as a Medical Doctor and Postdoctoral Researcher. From 2008 to 2011, she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy, France. Since September 2011, she has been MCU-PH (Assistant Professor and Hospital Practitioner) at the medical faculty of the University and University Hospital of Lille, France. She is mainly interested in virology, infectious diseases, and host pathogen interactions. She developed a specific interest in viral infections of transplant recipients and viral respiratory infections. In 2000, she received the Ludwig Heilmeyer Award.
