Xinhua Yang, Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Dalian Jiaotong University (DJTU), has more than 10 years of experiences in manufacturing processes, welding induced residual stress and distortion mitigation techniques, fatigue life prediction of welded structures, and intelligent CAD/CAE system and relevant technologies. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in material processing and engineering from Dalian Jiaotong University, Dalian, China. In 2003, he earned a Doctor degree in mechanical engineering from Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China. Yang has published over 60 papers in peer-reviewed archive journals and conference proceedings, performed over 40 industrial and government-funded R&D projects, and received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Society of Naval Architects and Marine engineers’ Elmer L. Hann Award (2012), Famous Teacher in Colleges and Universities of Liaoning Province, China (2008), Excellent Young Teacher in Colleges and Universities of Liaoning Province, China (2006), Dalian’s Science and Technology Award for Young Researcher (2008), and IBM Faculty Award (2005, 2007). At DJTU, in addition to supervising a large number of Ph.D. and M.S. students, Yang teaches graduate and undergraduate level courses in the areas of advanced working technologies of materials, production and design of welded structures, fatigue of welded structures, and finite element procedures for railway vehicle structures.
