Wolfgang Wadsak was born in 1972, he studied chemistry at the University of Vienna, Austria. He completed his postgraduate diploma in radiopharmaceutical chemistry/radiopharmacy at the ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He also received the European Radiopharmacy Certificate in 2007. Wadsak won the THP Award twice for basic scientist in nuclear medicine in 2005 and 2007. In 2004, he was awarded the Schering-Dr.Pfeiffer Stipendium in nuclear medicine. Wadsak also lectures at different academic institutions in the Vienna region and has supervised several Ph.D. theses. Since 2010, he has been the head of the Radiochemistry and Biomarker Development Unit at the Medical University of Vienna. He has coauthored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles. Wadsak has also been the Production Manager at PET, radiopharmaceuticals at the Vienna PET Centre since 2001. He is responsible for the preparation of more than 25 radiotracers for patient routine and clinical research such as 18F-FDG, 18F-FETO, 18F-FET, 11C-Methionine, 11C-Acetate, 11C-WAY100635, 11C-DASB, [11C]-Raclopride, [11C]-PHNO, 13N-NH3, and 68Ga-DOTATOC. His main research focus, however, lies in the medicinal radiochemistry while paying special attention to the preparation of fluorine-18- and carbon-11-labelled radiopharmaceuticals, microfluidics, and preclinical evaluation of radiotracers. On a more personal note, Professor Wadsak is married and a father of four and currently holds the position of Associate Professor.
