Anil Maheshwari was born in Lucknow, India, in 1965. He received his Electrical and Electronics, as well as Mathematics, degrees from Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (Pilani, India) in 1987. He received his Ph.D. degree in computer sciences from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (Bombay, India) in 1993. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Plank Institute for Informatics (Saarbrucken, Germany) during 1993–1994 and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Computer Science, Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). He joined the faculty in Carleton in 1996, and presently is a Professor. He has also been an Adjunct Professor at the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (Pilani, India) since 2008. His main research interests are in the field of theoretical computer sciences—especially sequential, parallel, and external memory algorithms for graph and geometric problems. He regularly reviews papers for computer science conferences (including SODA, WADS, ACM SoCG, CCCG, ESA, FST-TCS), journals (including CGTA, IJCGA, SIAM Journal of Computing, Algorithmica), and has been in an advisory board or program committee member of computer science conferences and workshops.
