Jacek C. Szepietowski
Jacek C. Szepietowski is a Professor and the Head of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology, Wroclaw University of Medicine, Wroclaw, Poland, and the former Director of the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Science. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 1996 and then the Habilitation degree in 1999. He received the title of Professor in 2004. Szepietowski is an author or coauthor of more than 400 scientific articles, 10 books, more than 60 chapters, and more than 300 congress communications. He is a Deputy Editor of Mycoses and a Section Editor of Acta Dermato-Venereologica. He serves as the President of the Polish Dermatological Society, the President of the International Forum for the Study of Itch, and the Vice-President of the International Society of Dermatology. He is also a Member of the Executive Committee of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry and the Board of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology. Moreover, Szepietowski was honored three times with the Award of Polish Ministry of Health and the Award of Foundation for the Development of Polish Science. He is an Honorary Member of the Sigma Xi Research Society (USA), Georgian Association of Dermatovenereologists, Serbian Society of Dermatology, Slovak Society of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Dermatology, Society of Cosmetic Dermatology of India, and Italian Society of Dermatology and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. He served as a Guest Speaker at several universities: in Hungary (Budapest, Debrecen), Slovakia (Bratislava), UK (Oxford), Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kamakura), and the USA (New Jersey). His main research interests are the following: pruritus, psychodermatology, mycology in dermatology, and immunology of inflammation.
